One day, in a college, a lecturer named Mr Sayuti suddenly gave his students a pop quiz.

The students were obviously not prepared, but Mr Sayuti said, "You may want to cheat in this quiz if you want. I will not stop you."

"How come you're allowing us to cheat? I thought we're not supposed to do that!" a student asked.

"Well, it is really up to you. I just want to demonstrate that cheating is a skill that you may want to use in your life later on, to ensure you achieve something, or just for your survival..." Mr Sayuti explained.

"It can also reflect on how resourceful you are in getting something done," he added before looking at his watch and announced, "You may begin answering now. Quiz ends in ten minutes."

The students began answering. Majority of them cheated by copying others, looking at their notes, discussing and talking to each others, but Mr Sayuti seems to ignore his students' act.

"Ok, times up!" he announce before collecting the answer sheets. The students seems happy that they managed to answer most of the questions.

During the next class, he returned the marked quiz papers to the students. Majority of them failed the quiz, even though they gave the right answers. Only a few who didn't cheat passed the quiz.

Before the class asked, Mr Sayuti said, "Today, I'm teaching you the value of integrity, and the importance of being honest and upright..."

In case you're wondering, I thought of the story while ironing my uniform yesterday. It has something to do with what happened at work a couple of days earlier, which I really regretted.

No, I'm not the one who cheated.

Although, I have to admit that I did cheat in some quizzes and tests back in UTP (Well, who doesn't? Probably just Farizwan aka Chek Mek. Huhu) and that is probably one reason why Allah didn't make me an engineer.

Now I see why.

Bonus.

1. Dua hari lepas ni aku terdengar dialog sketsa seorang guru dan beberapa orang pelajarnya tentang pengertian puasa melalui sebuah siaran radio Melayu. Guru bertanya pelajar sama ada mereka berpuasa dan apakah erti puasa itu. Seorang pelajar berkata dia berpuasa, kerana berpuasa itu tidak makan. Guru 'membetulkan' pelajar tersebut dengan memberitahu kelas yang puasa itu sebenarnya bererti tidak makan dan tidak minum.

2. Semalam aku terdengar pula 'tazkirah' melalui siaran radio Melayu yang lain tentang zakat fitrah. Juruhebah radio berkata yang orang Islam 'harus' membayar zakat fitrah untuk membantu orang yang miskin.

3. Sebab itulah aku tak berapa suka dengar radio. Kalau nak dengar pon, aku dengar IKIM dot FM. Pilihan utama.

4. Seorang wartawan, seorang blogger terkenal dan seorang ahli parlimen pembangkang ditahan hari ni di bawah Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA). Padan muka diorang. Ha ha.

5. Kalau boleh, tahan la yang blogger tu lama sikit. Aku dah baca beberapa artikel beliau tadi dan aku rasa macam nak luku je kepala dia barang sedas dua. Kalau beliau nak jadi sarkastik atau sinis pon, Eff, kena ada had jugak.

6. Macam jugak nak pergi Taiwan sebab konon-kononnya nak belajar tentang pertanian. Lima, enam orang ahli parlimen pon aku rasa dah lebih dari cukup kalau betul-betul nak belajar. Kalau lebih dari 40 orang, baik buat rombongan umrah. Sekarang zaman broadband la Yang Berhormat-Yang Berhormat sekalian. Google je kalau nak tahu sangat.

7. Terlalu haru biru Malaysia hari ni. Tempias 16 September, mungkin.

8. Untuk mereka-mereka yang perlu mengundi sebelum tarikh ni, selamat mengundi. Undi itu adalah hak anda dan bakal menentukan masa depan anda.

9. Mesej di atas adalah untuk orang-orang yang bekerja dengan Syarikat. Yang tidak berkenaan sila abaikan.

10. Harni, aku tak dapat membantu dalam hal ni. Ini adalah hak Syarikat ke atas kita. Hak kita adalah untuk terima atau tidak. Gunakanlah hak itu sebaik mungkin. Aku tak boleh komen lebih lanjut kerana aku tersepit antara pendapat peribadi dan pendapat profesional. Maaf.

11. Di sebalik haru biru ni, aku mempunyai sebab untuk tersenyum. Aku ingin berkongsi senyuman ini dengan semua. Sila tekan play.

Alangkah baiknya kalau waktu solat setiap hari dijaga seperti menjaga waktu Maghrib di bulan puasa.

Alangkah baiknya kalau dapat qiyamullail di bulan lain semudah bangun sahur di bulan puasa.

Alangkah meriahnya kalau solat berjemaah di masjid-masjid setiap waktu semeriah jemaah terawih di bulan puasa.

Alangkah beruntungnya kalau puasa aku tahun ini bukan sekadar berlapar dan dahaga.

Technical.

1. I apologize for having to blog in English (and also the quality of my English) for this particular entry. Why? Why not? Actually, I'm conveying some indirect messages through this post. I don't expect you to understand them.

2. Congratulation to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for winning the by-election and becoming the new Opposition Leader. I've kinda predicted this just after the last General Election. So, what will happen to Malaysia's political scenario after this? How would his win in Permatang Pauh benefits Malaysian in general or me in particular? It's already a waste of the people's money to held that by-election when the only need being fulfil here is DSAI's personal need and agenda to be in Parliament. If it is for the people or the party or reformation or whatever 'struggle', the wife and daughter are already in the Parliament to make his voice heard. Why does he still need to be the next Prime Minister?

3. I found it very amusing to see 'sumpah' being used so often for the last couple of months. One side repeatedly used 'akuan bersumpah' (statutory declaration) while the other used 'sumpah laknat' (swearing in the face of divine retribution) a couple of times to demonstrate that they are telling the truth. I am more inclined to believe the latter. Allah is the best witness and judge.

4. I'll be getting back to work next week eventhough I'm not fully recovered from the surgery yet. I don't think I'm getting any better if I stay at home anyway. Just about a week ago, the pain on my lower back and right leg started to come back. It is not as bad as before the surgery but based on Akak Kenakelayan's hubby's experience, I'm worried...

5. There are two possible causes for the pain to come back. First, I travelled to KL to see Ummi departed for Umrah and returned to Kuantan on the same day. Second, I picked up and held Syifaak to get her to stop crying after all other methods failed. I was the only one at home at that time babysitting her.

6. Syifaak is almost 10 kg now. The doctor said I should not lift anything more than 5 kg.

7. It is the most wonderful feeling to see Syifaak grows, learns new things, makes new sounds, vocalizes her baby-talks, smiles and laughs. It is the worst feeling not being able to pick her up and hold her when she cries.

9. There is actually a third reason for the pain to come back, but I just don't want to admit it. No, it is not 'that'. To avoid further speculation, let me just say it. I've been sitting around too much in front of this laptop, trying to understand it and make it function the way I want it to be.

10. Like any other geek, I've formatted my new Dell Inspiron 1420 to get rid of all the 'bloatware' that came with it and reinstalled only everything that I need. It has only been about ten days, but the laptop has gone through the reinstallation cycle three times.

11. I'm beginning to hate the Dell MediaDirect (MD) feature. It supposed to make your life easier by allowing you to access media content faster via it's dedicated MD button built on the laptop without having to boot into Vista. However, in case the feature get messed up, standard reinstallation of the feature requires a complete format of the entire hard disk, which is very, very irritating and inflexible. I'm trying to figure out a way around this limitation.

12. I manage to get the button to work properly on the first and second reinstallation. The third one, it gone BSOD and the only way to boot back into Vista is by pressing the MD button again. Pressing the boot button will only cause it to load MD again, then BSOD. Loop.

13. After two sleepless night browsing through various online discussion on this feature, I found out that MD uses XP Embedded (XPE) on the Host/Hidden Protected Area (HPA) partition of the harddrive to get the direct boot function. It's dedicated button manipulates the Master Boot Record (MBR) to switch the active partition for bootloader.

14. I learned how to use the md3utils.exe to access the content of the HPA partition where MD resides. I manage to get rid of the BSOD, by accidentally making XPE's hal.dll or boot.ini 'corrupted' but I still don't know how I did that nor how to fix it. Bottom line is, the MD function is still not working properly.

15. Standard reinstallation of MD is not an option. I don't want to get rid of it either, because I want to utilize the MD button. I may consider other usage for that button, like dual booting but as for now, I'm sticking with just MD. So, can someone please help me fix it? I'm not an IT guy or a programmer like Kmie so any help will be very much appreciated.

16. BTW, I've found new joy in practicing the 3 x 3 Rubik's Cube, thanks to the amazing Rubik's Cube solver program I downloaded from the net. Sorry, I lost the URL.

17. I'm not really sure why I put these numbering on my post. It just seems 'cool'. Haha. Don't bother to figure it out.

Rukun Iman pula diterjemahkan kepada enam prinsip yang harus dipegang bagi menghasilkan 'God Spot' iaitu 'Star Principle' untuk Spiritual Commitment (Percaya kepada Allah), 'Angel Principle' untuk Ultimate Integrity (Percaya kepada Malaikat), 'Learning Principle' untuk Continuous Improvement (Percaya kepada Kitab), 'Leadership Principle' untuk Spiritual Leadership (Percaya kepada Rasul), 'Vision Principle' untuk Ultimate Vision (Percaya kepada Hari Kiamat) dan 'Well-Organized Principle' untuk Ultimate Synergy (Percaya kepada Qada' dan Qadar).

Rukun Islam diterjemahkan kepada lima tindakan yang harus dilakukan bagi mengukuhkan enam prinsip tadi, iaitu 'Mission Statement' (Mengucap dua kalimah syahadah), 'Character Building' (Solat sehari semalam lima waktu), 'Self Control' (Puasa di bulan Ramadhan), 'Strategic Collaboration' (Zakat) dan 'Total Action' (Mengerjakan Haji).

Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 @ 2.1 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD, NVDIA GeForce 8400M GS, DVD Burner... campur free gift (Kan ke gift tu free, apasal diorang sebut free gift jugak ek? Sebut gift aje dah le kan?) cooler pad, optical mouse, lock, Panda Antivirus dan beg nylon Dell. OK la tu kot...

Guntingan.

1) Berita mayat bayi dijumpai di sebuah asrama UTP hari ni dan penahanan seorang pelajar perempuan untuk membantu siasatan kes tersebut sangat mengejutkan aku hari ni. Selaku salah seorang alumni UTP, aku sangat-sangat kecewa dengan berita ni.

Apa yang sedang berlaku (atau dilakukan oleh pihak berwajib UTP) di Tronoh?

Kamu mungkin boleh baca lebih lanjut tentang kes ini di blog Effi yang konon-kononnya telah ditutup tempoh hari. (Ye, aku tertipu)

2) Disk L4/L5 aku baru dipotong untuk membuang bengkak yang menekan saraf tunjang. Salah satu tulang vertebrae aku kini berlubang setelah ditebuk untuk melakukan pemotongan disk tersebut. Seluruh kaki kiri aku masih lagi kebas sejak operation. Surgical cut sepanjang tiga inci yang sedang dalam proses penyembuhan masih lagi berjahit. Anak tekak aku masih panjang dan ada ulser yang teruk di sekitar bahagian atas kerongkong.




Tapi, semua aku boleh tahan.

Yang aku tak boleh tahan ialah seketul ulser kecil di hujung lidah. Seksa betul!

3) Aku nak beli laptop. Bajet RM 3000 sahaja untuk dapatkan pengecualian income tax. Ada recommendation?

4) Aku sangat-sangat teruja dengan game Starcraft 2 dan Diablo 3 yang sedang dalam development sekarang. Dari dulu lagi aku minat dengan games yang dihasilkan Blizzard Entertainment. Gameplay, storyline dengan grafik diorang memang best.

Sekarang aku tengah main balik semua campaign dalam Starcraft dan Brood War dekat laptop bini aku ni untuk refresh jalan cerita dia dan mengisi masa lapang sempena MC yang panjang. Cuma aku rasa laptop ni atau laptop dengan bajet RM 3000 yang aku nak beli tu tak mampu nak support Starcraft 2 nanti.

Huhu.

Oi, dah jadi bapak budak pon nak main game lagi ke?

5) Syifaak semakin comel dan manja setiap hari. Asyik menguji vokal dengan 'dadada', 'tatata' dan 'bababa' sambil berlari ke sana ke mari di atas walker. Tak menang tangan Mama dan Mak Tok dia nak kejar ke sana ke mari.

Sedihnya aku takleh nak angkat dan timang-timang.

Huu...
